The 512 Film Festival grants student filmmakers the opportunity to showcase their films and be rewarded for promoting diversity, creativity, and all around positive change in the industry with their works. The festival endeavors to help student filmmakers with future projects, which is why some of the awards come with film equipment or grant money that we hope will aid in the filmmaker’s next project.

We are very excited to give back to our local “512” community by offering a high school submissions category for local schools in Austin, Texas. Students may submit a film of any genre to this category, and they will have the opportunity to watch their films on the big screen at the festival! The winner’s school will be awarded a $1000 donation.
All proceeds from submission fees will be donated to SeriousFun Children’s Network. SeriousFun is a global community of 30 camps and programs for seriously ill children. All camps and programs offer free recreational experiences to children with serious illnesses and their family members. You can learn more about SeriousFun and all of the good they do at www.seriousfunnetwork.org
The festival is hosted by the Lambda chapter of Delta Kappa Alpha, the National Professional Gender-Inclusive Cinema Fraternity. The mission of Delta Kappa Alpha is to foster lifelong character, collaborative and creative storytelling, ethical and productive business practices, philanthropic action, and fraternal bonds by and between students of the cinematic arts.
